Need Help with your Resolutions?

Upcoming Tele-Seminar Series:  From the Comfort of Your Own Home

The dawn of a NEW YEAR has always been a time for reflecting on the past, yet more importantly, looking forward to the upcoming year. It’s a time to reflect on the changes we want (or need) to make. It is a time to resolve to follow through on those changes. Do you or someone you know start each year with a list of resolutions?

Do you or someone you know fail annually on fulfilling these personal commitments?

Do you ever question WHY they don’t work? Why don’t they stick???

How would you like to ring in a NEW YEAR – 2010 with realistic goals and better still, have the tools to make them a reality?

Did you know that people who explicitly make resolutions are 10 times more likely to attain their goals than people who don’t? Imagine the personal possibilities. Be accountable!

Sadly, according to John C. Norcross (University of Scranton) more than 40 to 45% of American adults make one or more resolutions each year; however, by 6 months less than half are honoring them.

WHY? This course will give you tools and teach you introspective ways to push past the failure and make your dreams a success.

Choose from the 1-night or 3-night session in which, I will help you to explore:

In the One night session we will explore -

  • Who you really are?
  • Values
  • Wheel of Life
  • Future Self

In the three night session we will also include:

• What makes a habit?

• Setting realistic and obtainable goals

• Learning to say YES and NO

• Provide tools of inspiration and motivation

Here is what people are saying about Kath’s previous tele-seminar series:

” Kath’s talk  was smooth and easy to follow, I loved when you added tid-bits about yourself, it made the information easier to relate to and understand.  Your voice is really easy to listen to ( which is important).  I love the fact that you identified your present weaknesses/insecurities.  I don’t think I ‘ve ever heard a life coach/motivational speaker do that and lets face it, no matter how successful and famous you are there are always insecurities.
Your talk on values was wonderful, it actually made me see that there is so much more to me than “health and wellness”.  And I’ve come away with something I want to work on!!  All in one session!

So, CHEERS, to a job very well done!
Looking forward to next week.”

-KB, Winnipeg

“Your timing on the sessions is impeccable. Both so far have been well structured, well thought out, and perfectly timed. I can’t imagine the amount of effort that you put into this. I know i certainly appreciate it.

So far this teleseminar has been perfect on so many levels. If i were new to life coaching, i would find comfort in knowing that the group setting lets me be a bit more anonymous and perhaps relaxed or laid back about the accountability element. Being that i have previously worked with you and understand my need to push through the “safe” and search for the “thrill”, i find myself digging deeper than i ever imagined i would.

While i certainly do not want to rush Time, I can’t wait to see what next week will bring!”

-TS, Winnipeg

“I loved the Future Self exercise and cried went I met her and the person I want to become!”

-JS, Winnipeg

Resolution Time?

With the holiday season fast approaching I have turned my dream time to thinking about my resolutions and plans for 2010 - a year to remember!  Where do I want to improve?  What do I want to work towards?  What is a big challenge that will encourage me to grow?

Here are a few cool stats about New Year’s and resolutions…
63% of people are still keeping their resolutions after the first two months.

67% of people actually make 3 or more resolutions.

The top resolutions usually involve promises to exercise more (37%), increasing the time devoted to study or work (23%), losing weight, stop smoking or drinking (alcohol and/or coffee), and eat healthier.

People make more resolutions to start a new habit (84%) , than to break an old one (16%).

65% of people made their resolutions between the 28th of December and New Year’s Day. The rest usually take up until the end of January.

Of those who successfully achieved their top resolution, 40% of them did so on the first attempt. The rest made multiple tries, with 17% finally succeeding after more than six attempts.

How do you want to set yourself up for success?  Have you thought in detail about your resolutions and how in line they are with your values?  Do you have the tools to make them into commitments, goals, and habits?  How are you going to ensure they stick and at the end of the year are “just your way of life”?

Plan now and make 2010 a year to remember!

Just BE it!

I think the Nike slogan Just Do it was made for people like me.  I like to get things done.  I always have a To-Do list.  I love a good challenge.  I live my life in perpetual motion and when something gets in my way I evaluate and move past.  This is how I deal with emotions too.  I feel them and move on – one might argue that it is too quick but it is my way.

It seems like the universe is shouting out to me these days to take a walk on the other just and experience just BEing.  Here are a few of the signs:

Sign #1 – The Principle of Process:  This was one of the topics we covered during my coaching class this month.  This was the homework:

Homework #1: For two hours, simply BE. Notice your process during this practice, and your reaction to it.This will look and feel different for each person. Find out what simply being means for you. Note any temptation to do something or fit this into something you already know, like journaling, meditating, or even reflecting, and bring your attention back to simply being.

I resisted this practice like crazy.  I found it too hard to just BE and kept defaulting to an activity, a list, or a plan. I was a fidgeting toddler with an attention disorder.  I could not just BE no matter how hard I tried and IT SCARED ME!

Homework #2:  In your coaching over these two weeks, listen for where your clients avoid being in their experience.  Take them into their experience and deepen it. Go beyond your own comfort zone in being with where they are, whether this takes five minutes or the whole call. Do this with at least five clients

This is so very hard for me and I need to master the Principle to BE of better service to my clients.  I want to get going, take them away from the pain or lead them to an action that will serve them.  Some clients just need to stay and feel the feelings – good, bad, or other.  They don’t need a plan.

Sign #2 – Inspired by Others :  Our recent interview with Wendy got me thinking about meditation.  The author of The Happiness Hypothesis states that he believes that meditation is as powerful as Prozac (and she is in favour of Prozac if required).  Meditiation or any quiet time and solitutde is so lacking from our world these days you can help but wonder the effects.  Brandi told me you can get meditation videos on You Tube - now isn’t that funny?

Sign #3 – November’s Martini Momma’s Bookclub Book – Today we received this email from this lady

“I have been having a really hard time picking a book for November and I have finally decided. It’s a ridiculously easy and short read… but it influenced me and I am re-reading it to gain a little momentum. And who couldn’t use a little more momentum these days?” Kal

The book is DO by A.C. Pin

I laughed because I am trying to SLOW down but then saw this…

I am starting with this one – BE by A.C. Pin

Looking back it seems funny that I used to sign-off this blog BE this, BE that when it really is something I need to BE with more.  I am off to practice:)

Just curious…What is your slogan?

The Burden of Choice

I found this wordpress post and found it so interesting and challenging.  Choice is both an blessing and a challenge in my own and many clients lives.  What are your choices?  What or who do you base them on?

Have a read – so cool!

Run to a New Perspective

running

This morning I headed out for a short 20 km run. It is amazing the value of perspective! A short run because it is 10 km shorter than my last 2 week runs. A whole hour that I will be home sooner to spend the weekend with my family. This is was my current perspective! If you asked me at the beginning of training in May, my perspective would have been different. A 20 km run is a long run almost a half marathon, 2 long hours of running – which I only really ‘peak’ to run once each year in June! The perspective of a non-runner might be that I am crazy! Each situation has many different perspectives and you can choose to see the situation through the lense of each of them. Where are you stuck in your life that needs to you to look through a different perspective? I challenge you to try changing you perspective for just a week – the impact can be astounding!

Listen to the Coach

This is why I do it!

I am sharing this with permission from one of my clients.  It is a joy and always inspiring to work with such amazing clients!

Hey Coach,

This one pushed me hard. Forced me to dig deep. Led me to places I didn’t think I could go.
http://tinastree.blogspot.com/2009/07/delayed.html
Have a look. It didn’t turn out the way I had first thought. It turned out so much better. At first I believed I would point out five technical perfections of my images. Instead, I’ve seen into her sweet eyes. She reached out to my heart. This story is so much more what I, and my photography, am all about.

The simplicity of thanking you resonates far beyond what the echos of these words offer. Your talent, your natural skills, your perception, your creativity all contribute to making you an incredible Life Coach. I could not be happier that I came across you when I did. Anyone up for some solid coaching, soul-seeking, challenges, and direction should contact you without hesitation.

Always,
Kristina

Don’t Worry Be Happy

happy

We all aspire to be  happy in all aspects of our life. The latest studies show that happiness is no longer a simple by-product of circumstances but that half of our happiness comes from our genes. The other 50 percent is within our own control.   What are you doing to maximize your happiness? A coach can help you find out WHAT makes you happy and HOW to get to the place.

Here are a few great reads on happiness…
